How to Reach Global Village by Metro in 2026

Global Village does not have a Dubai Metro station at its entrance. The practical public-transport journey is to take the Metro to Centrepoint, Union, Al Ghubaiba or Mall of the Emirates, then transfer to the correct seasonal RTA bus. This guide explains every option clearly.

Prepared by: Friends Guide Travel & Tourism LLC Reviewed: 19 July 2026 Topic: Global Village by Metro

Can you go directly to Global Village by Metro?

No. There is currently no direct Metro station at Global Village. Take the Red or Green Line to a connected transport hub and continue by seasonal bus: Route 102 from Centrepoint/Al Rashidiya, Route 103 from Union, Route 104 from Al Ghubaiba or Route 106 from Mall of the Emirates.

Important 2026 update: Global Village Season 30 has finished. Season 31 is scheduled from October 2026 to May 2027. The routes below are based on the latest officially confirmed seasonal service, but travellers must check the live RTA journey planner when the new season begins.

Is There a Metro Station at Global Village Dubai?

Global Village is located on Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Road, away from the present Red and Green Metro lines. This means no train travels directly to the attraction and there is no station within walking distance of the entrance.

Many older online articles give incorrect answers such as Al Ras, BurJuman or another central Dubai station being the “nearest Metro station.” These stations are many kilometres away and are not walkable connections to Global Village. Visitors should use a planned Metro-and-bus combination instead.

The good news is that the journey can still be simple. During the Global Village season, the Roads and Transport Authority normally operates dedicated buses from major Metro-connected stations. The latest officially confirmed network used four routes: 102, 103, 104 and 106.

No direct Metro

The final part of the journey must be completed by bus, taxi or private transfer.

Four main hubs

Centrepoint, Union, Al Ghubaiba and Mall of the Emirates connect with seasonal buses.

Use a nol card

Metro and public bus travel in Dubai is paid through the RTA nol system.

Check live service

Dedicated routes are seasonal and may change when a new Global Village season opens.

Which Metro Station Is Best for Global Village?

There is no single best station for every visitor. The right choice depends on where your hotel, home or starting point is located. The easiest route is normally the one that requires the fewest changes before the dedicated Global Village bus.

Eastern Dubai

Centrepoint Metro Station

Best for travellers near Dubai International Airport, Al Garhoud, Mirdif, Al Warqa and the eastern side of Deira. Continue with seasonal Bus 102 from the Al Rashidiya/Centrepoint transport hub.

Central Deira

Union Metro Station

Useful for Al Rigga, Baniyas, Deira hotels and passengers changing between the Red and Green lines. Continue with seasonal Bus 103.

Old Dubai

Al Ghubaiba Metro Station

A practical option from Bur Dubai, Al Fahidi, Al Seef, Mina Bazaar and the Creek area. Continue from Al Ghubaiba Bus Station on seasonal Bus 104.

Western & Central Dubai

Mall of the Emirates Metro Station

Usually the most convenient option from Dubai Marina, JLT, Barsha Heights, Al Barsha, Business Bay and Downtown Dubai. Continue with seasonal Bus 106.

Station-name clarification: The Metro station formerly called Al Rashidiya was renamed Centrepoint. RTA announcements may still describe the nearby departure point as Al Rashidiya Bus Station. Both names refer to the same general transport hub.

Global Village Metro and Bus Route Options

During the latest confirmed season, RTA operated four dedicated routes from Metro-connected bus stations. Use the Metro to reach the correct hub, follow the signs to its bus station and board the matching route.

Route 102

Centrepoint / Al Rashidiya to Global Village

Metro line: Red Line

Latest confirmed bus frequency: Approximately every 60 minutes

Best for: DXB Terminal 1 or 3, Mirdif, Al Garhoud, City Centre Deira and eastern Dubai.

Step-by-Step: How to Go to Global Village by Metro

Step 1: Confirm that Global Village is open.
Global Village is seasonal. Season 31 is expected from October 2026 to May 2027, so do not plan a summer visit using a seasonal route guide.

Step 2: Check the RTA journey planner for your exact date.
Search from your hotel or home to Global Village. The planner should show whether Routes 102, 103, 104 or 106 are active and which route gives the best total travel time.

Step 3: Prepare a nol card for each passenger.
Top up before beginning the journey. Do not depend on finding a convenient top-up machine when the bus is already boarding.

Step 4: Take the correct Metro line and direction.
Centrepoint and Mall of the Emirates are on the Red Line. Al Ghubaiba is on the Green Line. Union is an interchange between the Red and Green Lines.

Step 5: Follow signs to the connected bus station.
The bus bay may not be beside the Metro platform. Allow time for station exits, mall walkways, toilets and finding the correct stand.

Step 6: Confirm the route number before boarding.
Ask station staff for Route 102, 103, 104 or 106. Do not simply follow the biggest crowd because different buses may use nearby bays.

Step 7: Save the return schedule before entering the park.
Record the last practical bus and your onward Metro connection. The last bus from Global Village and the final useful Metro connection are not always the same time.

How to Reach Global Village by Metro from Popular Dubai Areas

From Dubai Marina and JLT

Take the Red Line from DMCC or Sobha Realty Metro Station in the direction of Centrepoint. Leave at Mall of the Emirates, follow signs to the bus station and take seasonal Route 106. Travellers starting near the Marina Tram may need an additional tram or walking connection before reaching the Metro.

From Downtown Dubai and Business Bay

Use the Red Line from Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall or Business Bay Metro Station toward Expo City Dubai, then exit at Mall of the Emirates for Route 106. Remember that the walkway between Dubai Mall and the Metro station is long, so the true door-to-door journey can take more time than the train map suggests.

From Deira

Visitors around Al Rigga, Baniyas, Naif and central Deira can take the Metro or a short local connection to Union Station, followed by Route 103. Travellers nearer Dubai Airport or the eastern side of Deira may find Centrepoint and Route 102 easier.

From Bur Dubai and Al Fahidi

Take the Green Line to Al Ghubaiba and transfer to Route 104 when the seasonal service is active. This route is often simpler than changing to the Red Line and travelling across the city to Mall of the Emirates.

From Dubai International Airport

DXB Terminals 1 and 3 have Red Line stations. Travel toward Centrepoint and use Route 102 from the Al Rashidiya/Centrepoint hub. Passengers arriving at Terminal 2 must first use a bus, taxi or other connection because Terminal 2 does not have a Metro station at the terminal.

From International City

International City does not have a Metro station. You can use a local bus or taxi to Centrepoint and continue on Route 102, or compare a direct taxi with the full transfer journey. Families and groups may find a road transfer more practical from this area.

Visitors planning several attractions can combine this information with our guide to the best things to do in Dubai. Global Village normally deserves a full evening rather than a short stop between central landmarks.

Global Village Metro and Bus Timings

Dubai Metro stations normally operate from early morning until midnight, with later service on Friday and a later Sunday opening. Current general RTA station hours are:

DayGeneral Metro station hoursPlanning note
Monday to Thursday5:00 AM to 12:00 midnightCheck the final useful connection from your return bus hub.
Friday5:00 AM to 1:00 AM the next dayEvening crowds and road traffic may still delay the bus.
Saturday5:00 AM to 12:00 midnightAllow extra time for weekend visitor numbers.
Sunday8:00 AM to 12:00 midnightThe later morning opening rarely affects an evening visit.

Special events, public holidays and operational requirements can change these hours. Always check RTA information on the travel date rather than relying only on a saved article.

Global Village's latest visitor guidance described its dedicated bus service as usually operating from approximately 3:15 PM to 11:15 PM, with an estimated road journey of around 30 minutes. However, this is not a guaranteed Season 31 timetable. The actual first bus, final departure, station bay and frequency should be reconfirmed when the service restarts.

Allow more than the advertised journey time. A complete Metro-to-Global Village trip includes walking to the station, waiting for the train, changing lines if necessary, finding the bus bay, waiting for the seasonal bus, travelling through traffic and walking from the arrival point to the entrance.

How much time should you allow?

From central Dubai, a realistic total travel allowance is often 75 to 120 minutes. From Dubai Marina, JLT, Deira or the airport side, the journey may be shorter or longer depending on waiting time for the dedicated bus. Missing an hourly service can add significant delay.

Do You Need a nol Card for Global Village?

Yes. Dubai Metro and RTA public buses use the nol payment system. Cash is not normally accepted for standard RTA public-transport journeys. Each passenger who needs to pay a fare should have access to a suitable nol card or ticket.

  • Top up before beginning the journey.
  • Keep enough balance for the Metro, bus and complete return trip.
  • Tap correctly at Metro entry and exit gates.
  • Follow the bus tap instructions when boarding or leaving.
  • Do not use the same personal card simultaneously for several adults.
  • Keep transport money separate from your Global Village food and shopping budget.

RTA calculates normal public-transport fares according to the number of zones travelled and permitted transfer rules. Because special seasonal services may be priced or managed differently, check the current fare in the official journey planner rather than relying on an old fixed amount found online.

Can tourists buy a nol card?

Yes. Visitors can purchase a nol Silver Card or a nol Red Ticket from Metro ticket offices and vending machines. A Silver Card is generally more convenient for several journeys, while a Red Ticket can suit an occasional traveller. Check that the chosen ticket supports the complete Metro-and-bus itinerary shown by RTA.

How to Plan the Return from Global Village by Metro

The return journey is the part most likely to cause difficulty. Visitors often enter the park without checking the bus location, spend several hours exploring and then discover that the last comfortable public-transport connection is approaching.

On arrival Identify the bus drop-off and return boarding area. Save the route number and take a photo of the location.

90 minutes before Review the return schedule, finish distant pavilions and make sure the group is together.

60 minutes before Begin moving toward the exit if the park is crowded. Allow time for toilets, shopping collection and the walk.

30–45 minutes Join the correct bus queue and confirm the route number with staff.

Backup plan Keep enough phone battery, mobile data and payment ability for an official taxi or licensed ride service.

Do not make the final scheduled bus your only option. Target an earlier departure, especially with children, elderly guests or heavy shopping. Even when a late bus reaches the Metro hub, the onward train or feeder connection may no longer suit your hotel route.

Is the Metro Route Suitable for Families?

Yes, many families travel to Global Village using the Metro and bus. It can be affordable and comfortable when the journey is planned in advance. However, multiple transfers, long station walks and closing-time queues can be tiring for small children or older relatives.

For families with children

Carry a compact stroller, snacks and water. Visit earlier in the evening and choose an earlier return bus so a sleeping child is not dependent on the final connection.

For elderly travellers

Choose the route with the fewest transfers, even when another route appears slightly faster. Consider using a taxi for the first or final segment.

For larger groups

Compare the total cost and time of several public-transport fares with a private transfer or shared taxi. Road transport may be more convenient when the group can divide the cost.

For People of Determination

Dubai Metro stations offer accessible facilities, but individual bus arrangements and crowd conditions should be checked before travel. Global Village also provides accessibility services inside the destination.

Visitors arranging a larger Dubai itinerary may also consider a guided Dubai city tour for central landmarks and reserve Global Village for a separate evening. An evening desert safari should normally be scheduled on another day because both experiences occupy the same part of the day.

Common Mistakes When Going to Global Village by Metro

Believing there is a direct Global Village Metro station

No Metro line currently reaches the gate. Searching only for “nearest station” can lead to an unsuitable station many kilometres away.

Using an old route timetable

The buses are seasonal. Route numbers, operating dates, station bays and timings should be checked each season.

Choosing Mall of the Emirates from every location

Route 106 is popular, but it is not automatically the best choice from Deira, Bur Dubai, Mirdif or Dubai Airport. Union, Al Ghubaiba or Centrepoint may reduce total travel time.

Not allowing time to find the bus station

Metro exits, mall walkways and transport interchanges can add 15 to 25 minutes. Arrive before the intended bus departure.

Running down the nol card balance

Keep enough balance for every part of the return. Do not assume a late-night top-up point will be easy to find during a busy queue.

Planning around the final bus

A missed final service can leave the group dependent on a taxi. Aim for an earlier return and keep a backup payment method.

Combining too many attractions in one day

Global Village is large and normally needs several hours. A rushed visit after a full sightseeing schedule can make the Metro-and-bus return exhausting.
