France Schengen Visa from Dubai, UAE

A France Schengen visa is a short-stay visa for eligible travellers visiting France for tourism, family visits, short business trips or another permitted temporary purpose. It may allow travel within other permitted Schengen countries, subject to the visa sticker’s validity and conditions.

Yes. Eligible foreign nationals who legally reside in the UAE may apply from the UAE. The applicant must provide valid UAE residence evidence and meet the requirements applicable to their nationality, travel purpose, employment status and financial profile.

UAE passport holders are currently exempt from obtaining a visa for short visits to France and the Schengen Area of up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Different requirements apply to employment, study, residence and stays longer than 90 days.

Applicants residing in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah or another emirate currently submit their France visa applications through the authorized VFS Global centre in Abu Dhabi. Applications are processed by the French Consular Section in Abu Dhabi.

You should apply through France when France is your only Schengen destination or your main destination based on the purpose or longest duration of the trip. When no main destination can be identified, France may process the application if it is your first point of entry into the Schengen Area.

A Schengen visa application can generally be submitted up to six months before the intended journey and should normally be lodged at least 15 days before travel. Applying early is recommended because appointment availability is separate from the visa processing period.

Common documents include a valid passport, UAE residence proof, completed application form, recent photograph, travel itinerary, accommodation evidence, flight reservation, employment or business documents, bank statements, proof of sufficient funds and valid travel medical insurance. Additional documents may be requested according to the applicant’s nationality and personal profile.

The passport should have been issued within the previous 10 years, contain at least two blank pages and remain valid for at least three months after the applicant’s planned departure from the Schengen Area.

Applicants normally provide a photograph and fingerprints when submitting their application. Applicants whose Schengen biometric data was collected within the previous 59 months may, in some cases, have their earlier fingerprints reused. Personal attendance can still be requested.

Yes. Applicants must normally provide travel medical insurance covering emergency medical care, hospitalization and repatriation for the complete intended stay. The insurance must meet the applicable Schengen visa requirements.

No. A valid visa allows the traveller to reach the Schengen border and request entry, but admission is still subject to border checks. Travellers may be asked to present their passport, visa, accommodation details, sufficient funds, return travel arrangements, insurance and documents confirming the purpose of their visit.
